Go on, I’ll wait.
A couple of months ago, Carrie and I hosted a podcast episode on “The Great Connect” about how marketing feels icky to us these days.
This reached a fever pitch for me today. I love marketing, when it’s a true connection from human to human…when the focus becomes all about the money - Ick AF.
I’ve been working hard for the past couple of months with a team, for a cause that could be my entire mission as a woman being bottled and packaged, so to say I’m bought in is a massive understatement - so much so that I’m an official customer of this service.
When I go all in on something, I go hard, I take it to heart, it’s in my soul…so basically, don’t fuck around with it.
I had been working with someone for a bit, one that I feel had strung us along saying all of the right things, having “buy in” only to come back today and say that it’s not worth their time RE the money.
Ok, so here’s the thing - I’m always willing to explore what is worth someone’s time, especially women who are dramatically underpaid but where does the humanity come in? If money is your driver, then why go along with the motions and share buy in if that is your bottom line? Lead with that, this is where the ick comes in - if your heart was truly in, you were bought in, and want to do good things for other humans and specifically women then wouldn’t you figure out a way to make the money work?
Ick. Just don’t. Don’t waste people’s time, be a better human.
The thing that I’m frustrated with is that I knew in our first meeting that the person was not my squad, not my vibe…but in the spirit of business and trying to help spread the word, I proceeded because it’s not for my business, it’s on behalf of someone else’s - one that I believe in so I maintained and the person was good at making me think that they were in.
Marketing can be icky, but never is with the right people. Trust the vibe, trust yourself and you’ll find even better abundance.
This is an amazing reminder for me that the Universe does things for me, not to me including in business. Name something more difficult when you’re trying to make money, to let go of money…go ahead, I’ll wait.
