It’s here, day 1.
Day 1 of this blog anyway.
Happy International Women’s Day! It’s today and every day, some of you may not be vibing with all that’s out there including the official tag line “Embrace Equity” or is it embracing? Anyway, many feel that this missed the mark in all that could have been - I think what we’re seeing is women feeling tired of leading with grace and approaching days like today with a softer touch. Our entire lives we’ve been conditioned to play small and frankly, we’re over it.
No matter how you choose to celebrate IWD and Women’s History Month, honor yourself. Do only what feels authentic to you because no one else can do what you do.
Unlock the Magic is about championing the human experience…especially for women - systemic exclusion is real no matter how subtle. Something that I often struggle with is how to champion without making everyone hate me - think about it, if you’re constantly correcting/educating people, egos (especially male egos) are fragile and they quickly turn their listener off so that then everyone walks away frustrated. I’m continuously trying to find the balance between invoking change and appreciating that everyone learns at their own pace.
Though, I have moments where I want to be enraged and I give myself those moments, we need to feel our feels. Then I think about how I can make an impact and try to find a route toward progression. I’m a change agent, and that can be a lonely place, but every day I try.
I’m not perfect by any stretch but I acknowledge that I can do better, so I try. I invite you to feel human, lead with humanity, and unlock the magic.
